Linda Bigness is an internationally exhibited artist who lives in Syracuse, New York. Her work has been exhibited in several prestigious solo and group shows that have involved notable jurors such as art critic Clement Greenberg, Ivan Karp director of OK Harris Gallery in NYC, and Tom Pichè, director of the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art.
In addition to her busy exhibition schedule, Bigness’ large scale paintings are often selected and commissioned for corporate and residential clients, including the Turning Stone Resort, Merrill Lynch Corporation, Haylor Freyer and Coon, and Bausch and Lomb.
In Bigness’ artist statement taken from her book on collage, “Paint It, Tear It, Create It”, she writes:
“Paintings can be beautiful. Painted papers, layered colors, lines drawn, etched or marked. All of this over a period of time evolves into the beauty of painting. Not so carefully ripping apart these heavily painted and drawn papers to discover the edges. Edges, jagged, straight, broken, bruised, bleeding with color, speak to me. They, the edges, become my journal, my life’s reflection in the beauty of painting.”
