The legacy of Carl Peters lives on in Penfield’s resident, Jeanne Lindsay. Lindsay is best known for her award winning floral watercolors, but is equally respected as a landscape artist, and has exhibited at the Nan Miller Gallery for 27 years.
Lindsay’s relationship with Carl Peters both personally and professionally contributed to her artistic development. She painted with Peters and his plenair art group in the Rochester area for several years.
“To me, Carl Peters was truly a master and I was fortunate to be included in his weekly classes. A few simple strokes were the designs of his paintings - all else was few. I enjoyed my time painting with Tom Miller in Rockport, but it was Carl Peters who set the standard.” Jeanne Lindsay
Lindsay received her B.A. from the Empire State College of N.Y.S., and went on to teach art at the Memorial Art Gallery, University of Rochester and Rochester Institute of Technology. Through those early years, up to the present, she continues to receive awards of the highest standing for her botanical watercolors. A member of the Watercolor USA Honor Society, Lindsay will exhibit at the Japanese National Museum in Tokyo in 2010.
